"Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain."
-Saadi Shirazi
On any given night in any cities, in California, or any other states it's possible to encounter homeless residents sleeping beneath highway underpasses or in large, tented encampments mere blocks away from some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the US. Every year in our county, multiple homeless folks literally freeze to death.
A $30 investment will bring something good to our unhoused neighbors. That money could potentially save a life.
As the days grow colder, many people in our community are left without a warm place to sleep. It's a basic human need to have shelter and warmth, yet for some, this remains an unattainable luxury. In an effort to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate, we are launching the "Snug and Warm" Sleeping Bag and Winter Coat Drive to provide essential warmth and comfort to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Goals of the Drive:
1. Collect a significant amount of sleeping bags to distribute to individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.
2. Raise awareness about the challenges faced by those without shelters during the cold winter months.
3. Encourage community involvement and foster a spirit of generosity and compassion.
We encourage the donation of new or gently used sleeping bags suitable for cold weather conditions. Additionally, monetary donations will be accepted to purchase new sleeping bags and support related outreach efforts.
Once the drive concludes, all donated sleeping bags will be sorted and distributed to local shelters and directly to individuals in need. We will work closely with established community organizations to ensure that the sleeping bags reach those who need them most.
The "Snug and Warm" Sleeping bag and Winter Coat Drive represents an opportunity for our community to come together and provide essential warmth and comfort to individuals facing homelessness during the cold months. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful impact. Together we
can make a difference in the lives of those in need.
